House fire in Hillcrest claims the life of one year old
A one year old boy has died and his brother and mother sustained various injuries following a house fire in Hillcrest this evening.
ER24 paramedics received word that a house had caught fire in area. Upon arriving at the scene the paramedics found a mother and her two sons, one aged one and the other aged five, on the front lawn.
The one year old boy had no pulse and was not breathing. Paramedics initiated resuscitation efforts on the child which continued for some time. Unfortunately the boy was later declared dead at the scene.
The older son sustained minor injuries only in the form of various scrapes and bruises. The mother sustained more serious injuries in the form of burns to her back and legs as well as smoke inhalation. Paramedics administered treatment to both the mother and her child before transporting them to a nearby medical facility for further care.
Fire and rescue services managed to extinguish the flames. Local authorities attended the scene and will be investigating the cause of the blaze further.
