UPDATE: SEA RESCUE EERSTE RIVER, Friday, 06th July, 2012. Name of missing teenager released

The NSRI, Police and emergency services have extended sincerest sympathies to the family of missing Andrey Dreyer, 19, of Pretoria, a student at a Cape Town College. His brother, and friends are from a Cape Town University. They were holidaying at their families holiday house in Eerste River at the time.

An extensive continuing search by NSRI Oyster Bay and NSRI St Francis Bay volunteers and Police, today, revealed no sign of the missing teenager who is missing and who is presumed to have drowned after being caught in a rip-current while swimming with his brother and friends on Thursday afternoon, 06th July.

Sea conditions and unfavorable terrain are hampering the ongoing search and while a Police Dive Unit are due to join the search at this stage only shore patrols can be conducted and Police have taken over the command of the ongoing search operation.

Efforts to provide the family comfort are continuing.

The family have respectfully requested not to be contacted by the media and wish privacy at this time.
