Johannesburg - Eskom technicians continued with efforts to restore power in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, the power utility said on Thursday.
"We are working to restore supply as soon as possible, and improved weather conditions will facilitate this," it said in a statement.
It said although electricity has been restored in some areas, it was still working to address the problem.
According to the power utility about 16 700 households were affected by power cut because of weather in KwaZulu-Natal. In Eastern Cape the number was 15 000 on Wednesday.
Eskom's infrastructure was hit by snow and rain in some parts of the country.
It is urging customers to use electricity sparingly and switch off all appliances that are not essential particularly during the peak hours between 17:00 and 21:00.
