Five people died on Thursday August 23 in Gereida locality, South Darfur as a result of the heavy rains that hit the region. In addition, a number of farms flooded due to the ongoing rain. A citizen from Gereida told Radio Dabanga that the valleys surrounding Gereida flooded due to the continuing rain that hit the region on Wednesday August 22, which left five people dead. The floods have isolated parts of Gereida town. Citizens called upon government authorities to make small sand barriers to block the water as well as to dry it.
