A man was killed in a shack fire at the Galeshewe Informal Settlement near Kimberley in the Northern Cape in the early hours of this morning.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
Common cause information indicates that a heating device may have started the blaze, which quickly razed the structure to the ground.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the fire had been extinguished. The charred remains on the man’s body were discovered.
No one else was injured in the incident.
