SAWDOS ADVISORY: From the above satellite image it would appear that a mid-latitude cyclone is developing south east of the country. The unusual spiralling cloud pattern into the intense pressure centre is the result of highly energentic fast moving warm as well as sub polar air. The system consists of cold sub polar air, a pressure centre of the mid latitude and warm subtropical and maritime air combined. The system appears to be heading eastward away from the country. Never the less keep and eye on this system.
The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
