The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

UPDATE: Flood: Montagu Western Cape (6 - 9 August 2012)
Images: Langeberg Municipality (Click on images for larger view.)
Montagu Western Cape Update: The Langeberg municipality is hard at work trying to get the roads repaired, while still facing the fact that they have an EMS worker missing, and thus large groups still in the area searching for her. Cogmanskloof Road was re-opened but closes every evening for safety reasons, until the road has been repaired. Tonight it was quiet, with clear skies and only a hint of wind.... Lets hope that we don't have a repeat of last weeks snow and flooding, and that all are safe and warm! - Obs. Michelle De Marillac Robinson
