The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

UPDATE3: SEA RESCUE PLETTENBERG BAY: Sunday, 12th August, 2012. No sign of 4 missing men
On Friday afternoon 10th August, NSRI officially handed the ongoing search and investigations into this incident over to Police.
On Saturday, 11th August, NSRI Plettenberg Bay volunteers again launched sea rescue craft to assist a large contingent of Police and Police Divers who are continuing an ongoing search operation.
It remains unknown what caused this incident and the fate of the 4 men and their boat remains unknown although a huge search and rescue operation has revealed no sign of the boat or the missing men.
