Cape Town disaster management called in

CAPE TOWN - City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management Centre confirmed on Saturday that more than 1,500 people have been affected by heavy rainfall.

More than 750 households on the Cape Flats have been left waterlogged by heavy downpours since Thursday evening.

Areas affected include Nyanga, Strand, Philippi and Khayelitsha.

Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said, “Some 779 households were affected.

“Disaster management assisted people with hot meals, blankets and plastic seating.”
