JOHANNESBURG - Emergency services have ended their search for an illegal miner, who was trapped in an old mine shaft, in Durban Deep near Roodepoort on the West Rand.
Rescue workers searched for the man for 16 hours on Friday, covering a distance of three kilometres underground.
It was believed the man was still alive.
Emergency services say the area has become unsafe due to falling rock walls.
