A stunt event was behind apparent sightings of UFOs in Johannesburg in the last week, according to a report on Sunday.
The Cartoon Network (CN) television channel told the City Press that newspaper the unidentified flying objects (UFOs) were part of a stunt event promoting a new television series and said they would hover over the city until September 15.
According to the newspaper, UFO expert Cristo Louw said UFOs were seen all over South Africa all the time.
"In towns, cities, the middle of nowhere, over the sea... pilots have reported sightings," Louw said.
Louw told the newspaper his job was to assess what the UFOs sighted might really be -- such as planes, helicopters, Chinese lanterns or weather phenomena.
He did this by analysing an object's movements, and gave feedback to people who had reported sightings.
Louw said he was not on a mission to make people believe in other worlds.
"I don't try to convince people of anything," he said.
