Boesmansriviermond / Bushmans River Mouth flood - 18 Oct 2012

Published on Oct 18, 2012 by Mike Smuts

There's a wetland system just outside our coastal holiday town that captures the inflow from a small stream. However, recent prolonged rains meant that the system could no longer contain all the water that now flowed into it at much greater volumes than normal. Thus the water flowed to the actual river after which our town is named, only problem is that the lower part of town lies between the wetland and the Bushmans River...

My apologies for the shaky footage, it was shot handheld on my Galaxy Nexus, often while I was wading through water.
