REQUEST: Please stay at home tonight if you live in the flood effected areas. Stay off the roads till further notice.
ADVISORY: Do not try to cross low level bridges, rivers, ravines or flooded roads. Turn around don't drown!!!
Current situation:
1. Heavy rain still falling.
2. Many roads flooded.
3. Many roads closed due to flooding.
4. Several small dams gave way and flooded roads.
5. Houses flooded and damaged.
6. Caravan Parks flooded.
7. Many people rescued.
8. Roads washed away.
9. People being evacuated.
10. Many vehicles trapped in floodwater.
11. Rivers are in flood.
12. Dams are full and overflowing.
13. Bridges emerged in water.
14. Casualties are expected.
15. Water depth is not clearly visible.
16. Potholes not visible. Many cars damaged.
17. River mouths rough and littered with debris.
18. Debris strewn over road surfaces.
19. River levels are still rising which will result in further flooding.
20. Landslides occurring.
21. Large holes in areas caused by flood water.
22. 2 confirmed drownings. (1 in Kleinskool and 1 in Kirkwood)
23. Rescue missions underway in the Kirkwood/Addo areas
24. 3 x Villages cut off from the outside world in Port Alfred.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
