The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

GFS Medium Range Forecasts of Vertical Velocity and Precipitation: 16 - 21 October 2012
SAWDOS NOTE: Parts of South Africa can expect further rain this week. Prediction models for the next 120 hours are showing a frontal low and large upper trough developing which will result in scattered rainy conditions and thunderstorms. Heavy rain can be expected in areas. Please note that there is no certainty pertaining to these predictions.
