Man Struck By Train In Critical Condition
A man believed to be in his late fifties is in a critical condition after been struck by a train while walking on the railway lines near Northdale in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by members of the public and found the man just off to the side of the track and in a very critical condition. Paramedics assessed him and found he had sustained very traumatic injuries to his right arm from the shoulder down. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before he was transported to Grey’s Hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the man was walking with a friend along the tracks when the incident occurred. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
