Johannesburg - Hurricane Sandy has forced SA Airways (SAA) on Sunday to ground its flights coming to and from the eastern United States.
The cancellation was immediate and would affect flights to and from New York and Washington, SAA said in a statement.
The flights affected for Sunday are SA 203, Johannesburg to New York, and SA 207 Johannesburg to Washington.
The flights affected on Monday are SA 204, New York to Johannesburg, and SA 208, Washington to Johannesburg.
Passengers affected by the cancellations can approach the airline's call centre or ticket offices for help.
Customers will be offered a full refund, waiver of flight change fees or a waiver of cancellation and administrative fees.
SAA warned that this offer must be taken up by Wednesday.
