Fires kill 2 adults in Milnerton
At 01:13 on Saturday, 03 November 2012 a fire destroyed two informal structures at the SY103, 70 Hlungulu Rd, Joe Slovo Park in Milnerton.
The blaze resulted in the displacement of four persons in the area.
Ayanda Thuso (27 years) and Mbongeni Siwa (35 years) were declared deceased on the scene by paramedics that could not escape the blaze.
The bystanders that attempted to extinguish the blaze prior to the arrival of the Fire & Rescue Services that could not save the lives of the deceased persons will be provided with emergency psychosocial trauma counseling.
The City’s disaster response teams conducted an assessment earlier this morning and made arrangements for the provision of food parcels, clothing, blankets and building material to the victims.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and the SAPS have opened an inquest docket to investigate the incident.
