The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

All-terrain, emergency response vehicle will assist with lifesaving and law enforcement on City’s beaches
The City of Cape Town will receive a much-needed boost during the peak Festive Season - the busiest time of the year on the City’s many beaches and extensive coastline - thanks to a solar operated, electric off-road emergency response vehicle that has been made available by Airborne Outdoor Advertising.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, said: “I thank Airborne Outdoor Advertising for their generous sponsorship. The all-terrain vehicle will certainly make the work of lifeguards, emergency and disaster management staff and law enforcement officials much easier and enhance the safety of beach-goers. ”
The vehicle will be sponsored for the duration of the Festive Season by Airborne Outdoor Advertising CC, which also provides aerial media services and the flying of giant helicopter banners.
Alderman Smith will take receipt of the vehicle as indicated below:
