The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Fire destroys 2 shacks in Khayelitsha – 8 people displaced
A fire occurred at 03:53 on Sunday, 02 December 2012 at 9548 Ndlovu Street, Monwabisi Park, Khayelitsha.
The fire destroyed two (2) wood and iron structures causing the displacement of eight (8) persons.
The City’s disaster response teams aided the families with food parcels, clothing, blankets and building material.
No persons sustained any injuries and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
