The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
24 December 2012: Within the last two hours, a man was struck and killed by lightning while putting tiles on his roof. This, as yet another electrical storm strikes Ladysmith. The incident happened in the Limit Hill area.
