KZN officials have urged thousands of residents on the lower South Coast to use water sparingly over the next few days as officials work to repair damaged pipes.
Umgeni Water says supply to the Ugu District has been severely affected after heavy rain damaged pipes that carry water to municipalities there, including Umzumbe, Hibiscus and Izinqoleni.
Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder says reservoirs that receive water from Umzinto and Mthwalume water works are most affected.
He says officials are working around the clock to ensure that regular water supply is restored within the next 24 hours.
