A man is still presumed missing and another three have luckily sustained no injury after the vehicle that they were travelling in was swept off a flooded low level bridge in Pietermaritzburg late yesterday evening.

The Mazda 323 allegedly attempted to cross over the severely flooded road at Woodhouse, when the vehicle started sliding. When paramedics arrived on scene they found three men outside of the vehicle and they explained that a fourth occupants had been trapped in the vehicle and had been swept away. Two of them said that as the car started to slide, they quickly climbed out, while the third climbed out and onto the roof where he managed to swim to safety a short distance down the river. All three of the men, aged in their 20′s, were checked by paramedics but found to have not sustained injury and they then left the scene privately.

The fourth man is still missing and the local police are investigating.
