Officials on the KZN North Coast say they've finished clean-up operations in parts of Empangeni that were flooded at the weekend.
Some water-logged roads had to be closed after torrential rains lashed the province on Friday night.
Areas in Empangeni and Esikhawini were the hardest hit.
Umhlathuze's Vukile Mathabela says teams worked around the clock on Sunday and yesterday to remove pools of water from the roads.
He says, fortunately, there haven't been reports of excessive damage to homes or infrastructure.
However, officials are still assessing the area.
"We are back to normal but remain on full alert because the weather conditions are not good," he said.
