The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Estimated Rainfall Accumulation from 14th to 22nd January 2013, Mozambique
This map presents the estimated total rainfall accumulation for Mozambique covering the period 14-22 January 2013. This total estimate was derived from the Tropical Rainfall Monitoring Mission (TRMM) precipitation data set at a spatial resolution of approximately 25km for this region. It is possible that precipitation levels may have been underestimated for local areas, and is not a substitute for ground station measurements.
