The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

SAWDOS New Year Wishes!!
2013 has arrived!! Let's never forget that New Year is the time to unfold new horizons and realize new dreams, to rediscover the strength and faith within us, to rejoice in simple pleasures and gear up for new challenges. The New Year is a moment of quiet reflection. Reflect on the year gone by; of the happy gains and missed opportunities. Recount the good and bad of the past year. Introspect on your personal growth, and learn from the experience. New Year is the time to ensure that we bring balance to our life with positive influences overriding the negative ones. I want to wish everybody a Prosperous and Happy New Year and wish all SAWDOS readers/observers only the best for 2013.
“A Big Thank You” to all of the SAWDOS partners worldwide. Every year, I have the wonderful fortune to be able to work with some of the brightest, most dedicated, and most talented people in the world through my interaction with the SAWDOS around the world. Some of you I have known for many, many years, and some of you I have just recently had the pleasure to meet or interact with. You all continually help positively keeping your local communities safe by providing timely and accurate weather- and disaster observation reports to the SAWDOS. Just take a quick moment to think back over the past 12 months at the successful notifications you have provided for your community and what that means to them every day. It is extremely amazing! We’ve built the SAWDOS on being a non-commercial model to be proud of. For all that you do and for your continued participation and support, I offer you a sincere “Thank you,” and genuine wishes for an even better, more amazing 2013 together.
Make the best of 2013!!
