Johannesburg - A five year old boy drowned after he and three friends went for a swim at a dam in Gqunqe village, Centane, outside Butterworth, said Eastern Cape police on Saturday.
Captain Jackson Manatha said the four boys went for a swim around noon on Friday with the five-year-old reportedly drowning after being unable to swim out of the dam.
Police divers from East London were called to remove the boy's body from the dam on Saturday morning.
Manatha said an inquest docket has been opened and warned parents to always accompany their children when if they went for a swim.
