[WALKERVILLE – 22 JANUARY 2012 AT 10H00]
A female believed to be 18 years of age has sustained serious injuries after she fell into a ditch while riding her horse near the Wylebach Dairy Farm in Walkerville this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the patient lying on the ground and in pain. Paramedics assessed her and found that she had a possible fracture to the hip area and suspected injuries to her face, neck and back region. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed to stabilise the patient. The ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called to the scene to help transport the patient to Union Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further medical care.
It is believed that the rider and horse were at full gallop, when the incident took place.
