The Western Cape Agriculture Department on Tuesday said at least R15 million worth of damage was caused to farms and infrastructure near De Doorns following inclement weather.
Flooding and hail storms lashed parts of Hex River Valley for several days last week affecting mostly grape farmers in the area.
Provincial Agriculture MEC Gerrit van Rensburg toured the region on Monday and met with farmers.
The department’s Wouter Kriel said, "Unfortunately because of the isolated nature, it won't be viable to try and declare it a disaster area. It’s not the entire valley that has been affected, only a few farms."
