Two North West pupils have been swept away while crossing a flooded river in Moruleng, officials say.
The two, from Manamakgotheng village, were on their way to school, provincial public safety department spokesman Lesiba Kgwele said.
Police from Potchefstroom were by noon searching for the primary school pupils using sniffer dogs.
"Most learners have not gone to school today because of the heavy rain," Kgwele said.
Earlier, emergency services rescued 13 children when their minibus taxi was swept away by floodwater at the Mabele-a-Podi village. Nobody was hurt.
North West traffic officials urged motorists travelling between Mogwase and Moruleng to use the R510 as the Kgama Bridge was closed due to flooding.
