Table Bay volunteers launched Spirit of Vodacom after being asked by Voight Shipping to assist with an evacuation of a 39 year old crewman from the 365.5m container vessel CMA CGM Christophe Colomb.
Spirit of Vodacom was launched at 15:00 and rendezvoused with the vessel approximately 4nm off Green Point. Two Metro paramedics accompanied the Sea Rescue volunteers to provide medical care.
Spirit of Vodacom returned to base at 16:30 and the patient was taken to hospital by the Metro medics.
