With Thursday's hot and stormy conditions sparking wildfire warnings for the Peninsula, firefighters are back on high alert again.
Over the past 24 hours, firefighters have had their hands full with shack fires across Cape Town. The fires have left nearly120 people homeless.
A fire swept through the Overcome Heights informal settlement near Seawinds on Wednesday, leaving 60 people homeless.
In the early hours of Thursday, a blaze gutted 20 shacks in the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Milnerton. It left close to 60 people destitute.
South African National Disaster Management centre says police do suspect foul play. Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says the fires will be investigted and that the disaster management team will be assisting all affected families today.
