Johannesburg Emergency Services’ personnel were closely monitoring low lying bridges, roads and rivers on Wednesday, following Tuesday’s storm.
Several roads were flooded in Midrand and parts of Centurion during the afternoon.
Emergency service's spokesperson Synock Matobako urged motorists to adhere to road closures.
“Please assist us by adhering to our requests and use alternative roads.”
We’ve had bad incidences where motorists try to drive through low lying bridges.”
“Cars have been swept away and the motorists do end up drowning.”
