A fire has raged through a house and a plastic manufacturing factory in Verulam, north of Durban.
Firefighters were called to the scene, along Todd Street, at around 2.30am this morning.
Max Magnussen, from eThekwini Fire and Emergency Services, says the blaze had actually started in a neighbouring house.
"The fire had already gone through the roof and had spread into the next-door premises which was the office for a plastics factory. No-one was hurt in the fire, everyone was accounted for and the owners of both premises were in attendance."
Magnussen says the home was completely gutted, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from moving through the entire factory.
He says it took emergency services about an hour to put out the blaze, the cause of which is still being investigated.
