Four children among them a six-month-old baby were killed in a house fire in Clanwilliam in the Western Cape on Saturday.
An adult was seriously injured and is being treated at Tygerberg Hospital.
A six-year-old and two, seven-year-old's were also killed in the blaze.
Cederberg Municipality's Jonas White said they were doing everything possible to assist the affected family.
“We’ll make arrangements for their accommodation, transport and we’ll ensure they get counselling.”
White added the cause of the fire was still unknown.
“We don’t know the exact cause of the fire but the police will investigate.”
