The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Wilderness beach fest 25 February 2012
Join the Wilderness volunteers on 25 February 2012 from 9h00 for the inaugural local beach festival, aimed at raising much needed funds for Wilderness Sea Rescue Station 23.
There will be a social beach volleyball tournament that will include School teams and a Corporate team challenge. It will be professionally organized and fun for all. Sea Rescue will have a volleyball team taking part and there will be a Sea Rescue training demonstration.
Soft drinks and snacks will be sold on the beach. Come and enjoy music on the beach, buy Sea Rescue merchandise, have a beach picnic and fun for whole family – just bring sunscreen, towels & umbrellas. There will also be specials at Salinas Beach Restaurant.
Wilderness Sea Rescue (NSRI) is manned by ordinary people, all of whom are volunteers…
Always on call so others may live.
