A regional tsunami warning has been issued for two prefectures in Japan
A 6.8 earthquake hit Northern Japan Tuesday night, prompting a regional tsunami warning for two prefectures in Japan, but no tsunami warning for Hawaii.
The Japan Meteorological Agency reports the epicenter was about 146 miles south of Kushiro, Japan, and was relatively shallow, about 16 miles from the ocean floor.
There are no immediate reports of damage.
Again, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
