An IKARUS C42 aircraft crashed near the Bronhorstspruit dam area. The pilot has been stabilised by Netcare911 paramedics and is being carried from the crash site to an awaiting ambulance. No further information is currently available but we will update this article as and when we receive more information.
UPDATE: A man is in a serious but stable condition in the Netcare Pretoria East Hospital after a light aircraft crash near Bronkhorstspruit Dam outside Pretoria this afternoon.
The cause of the crash remains uncertain and will form the subject of a Civil Aviation Authority investigation.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the wreckage of the plane on a rocky outcrop of a hill. The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft had been pulled from the wreckage and was lying nearby.
He had sustained trauma to his upper body but was in a stable condition. He was stabilised at the scene and medics carried him to a waiting ambulance.
