A six-year-old boy was killed when he was crushed by a falling gate at a flat complex in Kensington, Johannesburg, this evening.
The cause of the accident and the series of events leading up to it remain unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
Common cause information indicates that the boy had pushed the gate open and it had moved of its track and toppled over pinning, pinning him beneath it.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the child had sustained critical crush injuries and had sadly died as a result.
He was declared dead at the scene.
