BRAZZAVILLE, March 11, 2012 (AFP) - The death toll in blasts at a munitions dump in the Congo capital Brazzaville has risen to 223, an official said Sunday at a memorial service for the victims.
Medard Milandu, who conducted the service, said 223 bodies had been recovered, of which 159 had so far been identified.
An earlier toll said nearly 200 people were killed and more than 2,300 injured in the explosions, which destroyed hundreds of houses, leaving 14,000 people homeless.
