Metrorail train services will be disrupted in several parts of Gauteng on Monday morning because of damage caused by lightning, the company said.
Spokesman Tony Games said trains running from Naledi and Vereeniging to Johannesburg and back will run 15 minutes late after lightning damaged electronic equipment.
"Metrorail has activated its contingency plan to minimise delays --section managers will be deployed in the affected areas to ensure the safe movement of trains during the morning peak," he said.
"The technical team has accessed the damage and will commence with repairing the damaged controllers and data cards in time for the afternoon peak."
