The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services Department said East Rand residents had nothing to worry about after an earth tremor was felt in the area on Saturday morning.
EMS's Rogers Mamaila said Germiston and Benoni have a long history of earth tremors.
He said the tremors posed no danger to residents of property.
“We did not receive any emergency calls or any reports through our centre,” he said.

SAWDOS - The SAWDOS received two reports this morning via Twitter of observers that felt the earth tremor in the Benoni area. Many thanks to both observers.
The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
