A fourteen-month-old boy is fighting for his life in the Netcare Krugersdorp Private Hospital after he was badly burnt by boiling water at a residence in Monument, Krugersdorp, this morning.
The cause of the accident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
Common cause information indicates that the boy had pulled a pot of boiling water from a stove. Boiling water fell on the child and his mother made the emergency call to 082 911.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the toddler in a critical condition, having sustained severe burn wounds to his head, face, neck and chest. He was rapidly stabilised at the home and transported by ambulance to the private medical facility nearby.
