The boy sadly succumbed to his injuries in the state hospital despite the best efforts of his medical attendants.
A two-year-old boy is fighting for his life in the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg after he was crushed by a falling TV at a residence in Cosmo City, Randburg, this evening.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain.
Common cause information suggests that the boy was crushed by the TV which had fallen on top of him, leaving the toddler with critical injuries.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene and immediately initiated care, intubating the child and placing him on a manual ventilator. His condition was unstable so he was rapidly transported to the Netcare Olivedale Hospital where a trauma team had been prepped.
Once stabilised, the toddler was airlifted by the Netcare1 Aeromedical Helicopter to the specialist state facility for further treatment.
