The man was allegedly trying to cross the train tracks near the Welgedacht Road between Springs and Welgedacht this morning when he was knocked by a train. The reason for the man being on the train tracks at the time is however not clear.
Paramedics found the man to have sustained critical injuries. He had suffered a traumatic amputation to his left leg and his right leg was severely broken. He had also suffered multiple other injuries, but he was miraculously still awake and reacting to the pain.
Paramedics immediately initiated treatment as the man’s condition was critical. He had lost a lot of blood and they treated him accordingly. After a while it seemed that his condition was improving and they loaded him into the ambulance for transportation to a hospital in the area.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
