A man died after he allegedly broke into a shop where a fire later started in Ga Dikgale on Saturday, Limpopo police said.
The man allegedly gained access to the shop by breaking a window so that he could steal groceries around 2am, Constable Moses Molepo said.
“He ransacked the shop and was trapped inside by a fire. He died of smoke inhalation inside the store.”
Molepo said the shop burnt to ashes.
The cause of the fire was not known.
The man had not yet been identified. An inquest docket had been opened for further investigations, Molepo said.
