Signal Hill fire under control

Table Mountain National Park officials on Thursday said the veld fire on Signal Hill was a controlled blaze.

It is the second controlled burn on the hill in two weeks.

The park's Phillip Prins said they were burning vegetation for several reasons.

“It is part of our control operation aimed at alien clearing.”

Prins added it was common for authorities to light controlled burns between March and April every year.
