Netcare 911 paramedics said a man and teenage boy drowned after their canoe capsized in a river in KwaZulu-Natal.
The pair was rowing near the Mzamba Casino on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) officials rescued a fisherman who had been stranded near a river outside Port Elizabeth for several hours.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the 53-year-old went missing in dunes and bushes near the Gamtoos River late on Friday evening.
“The NSRI from Jeffrey’s Bay and paramedics launched the search at 9:30pm. The man was found at 1am.”
In a separate incident, a six-year-old boy drowned in a public pool in Durban on Sunday morning.
