Update: Request Weather Observation: First Real Winter Cold Front (7 - 10 April 2012)

Latest models indicate that the cold front moved in over Cape Town and the Overberg areas. No cut-off low has developed but moderate rain (10 - 20 mm) is still possible in the Western Cape. Heavy rain (50mm or more) is expected in parts of the Overberg by this evening. Very cold air,  a strong SW wind that will result in high swells are expected in parts of the Western, Southern, and Eastern Cape. There is even a chance of snowfalls on the higher mountains. Observers are still requested to keep and eye on this cold front.  

The SAWDOS is keeping and eye on the system and will inform our readers of any further developments. Please report any heavy rain possible flooding, gale force winds, rough seas and wave heights to the SAWDOS.  Send information to:
