I was just informed that the buyer of the SAWDOS withdrew from the sale with immediate effect. The reason give is that hoards of upset observers threaten to withdraw from the SAWDOS as they are not happy to form part of the Pay as you Go Weather Service in South Africa. They have therefore decided to cancel the sale. With the selling of the SAWDOS now out of the way and no other buyers on hand, it is business as usual. The SAWDOS is here to stay and will the public decide the future of the SAWDOS.
I trust that the sale of the SAWDIS did not upset our observers and readers to much. It is after all the 1 April 2012 also called April Fools Day!!
The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
