Most Diepsloot residents need to continue drinking water provided by the council, the City of Johannesburg said on Tuesday.
Tankers have been stationed in the northern Johannesburg township after the council found that some water in the area was contaminated.
City spokesperson Millicent Kabwe said only people in Diepsloot extension 2 could go back to drinking tap water.
“We are trying to solve the problem.”
Meanwhile, Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa said officials are testing drinking water in and around Johannesburg.
“We are upgrading systems,” she added.
